School Crossing Guard

There was another activity that I enjoyed a lot at Lincoln School. It was when I was chosen to be a crossing guard.

Crossing guards were let out of class early, so that we could go down and put on our crossing guard outfits. The crossing guards were either in the front of the school or on the side street next to the schoolyard.
If I remember correctly, there was a little store right across the street from the schoolyard where the children could buy candy and snacks.
Does anyone remember the little store?
