My Dad’s brother, James Truscott, moved from Australia and lived in Bisbee, Arizona. He worked in the silver mine there. He had worked in the gold mines in Australia before he came to the Unite States.
Later, Uncle James moved from Bisbee, Arizona to Oakland, California and got a job working for the Oakland Tribune newspaper, writing articles as a columnist.
Uncle James was a magician. He also did magic tricks on stage for the Oakland Tribune Newspaper.
At Christmas time one year he was going to entertain our family with his magic tricks.
Uncle James passed my mother, Lottie, to get to where he wanted to do his tricks. She saw a thread on his suit, so she grabbed it to take it off him. To his dismay, out came a long string of flags from a hidden pocket in his suit.

Boy, was he upset with my mother for spoiling one of his tricks. Dad
