Good Morning Chicago! chapter 7

It was the morning of August 21. Ginger and I had slept well in our Chicago hotel room. We are used to getting up early, so as usual we woke up early that morning. I think it was about 5 o'clock.
We made plans for the day and decided we would go enjoy our complimentary breakfast and coffee first thing.
After breakfast we went back to our room and gathered all our luggage and checked out of the hotel. Our train wasn't leaving until around 2 o'clock in the afternoon, which meant that we had lots of time to enjoy walking around Chicago.
There is a wonderful lounge for first class, sleeper car passengers in the Amtrak train station in Chicago. Your luggage can be checked in there at not extra cost.
Ginger and I walked back to the train station to drop off our luggage in the lounge.
We were carrying our little pets as we left the station to explore the city. We walked for a few hours, exploring the different sights in and out of the many skyscrapers that surrounded us.
A couple of times we found nice places to sit and rest. The pictures show a beautiful spot we found to sit while being surrounded by flowers. As you can see, Ginger and I wore matching sweaters.
Before we headed back to the train station we found a nice little place to buy lunch. We ate some delicious clam chowder, sandwiches and fruit. It was a wonderful lunch and everything tasted great.
Our time in Chicago was very entertaining and enjoyable.
Judy
