Campmeeting

I’m posting this picture again of Mom tarp camping. I was talking to Dad today and he told me the story behind the picture. The person in the chair is Grandma Nunley. Dad said the baby in the crib in the background would be LaDonna. This pictures is taken in Ada, Oklahoma. That is not too far from where we are living now here in Oklahoma. It would be quite a trip from Ada to Sand Springs where Grandma and Mom were living at the time this picture was taken. Grandpa Nunley and Dad set up the campsite for Grandma and Mom. They were at a two week Pentecostal Holiness Campmeeting. Dad is amazing on how many details he can remember. I hope I tell the story correctly. Grandpa and Dad could not stay at the campmeeting. They had to get back to Sand Springs to work. On the way back home, Dad got very sleepy and couldn’t drive anymore without falling asleep. Grandpa was also very sleepy, so they pulled off the road to rest in a graveyard.
The next weekend Dad again made the trip down to the Campmeeting at Ada. Only that time he was alone. On that trip he had a flat tire on a gravel road. While he was changing the tire, a car headed straight at him. He jumped out of the way just in time to be missed by the oncoming car. The car slamed into his car. It hit a metal rack on his car and didn’t damage it. The people in the other car were drunk. Their car was damaged badly, but it was still drivable. They drove away. How great that Dad and his car were not hurt.
